Description
Clay’s Story
Clay Worthington is a keynote speaker who draws on sixteen years inside elite high-performance sport, alongside his more recent experience as a serial entrepreneur. As Head Coach at the Western Australia Institute of Sport and Men’s Track Endurance Head Coach at USA Cycling, he developed athletes who went on to compete at world championship and Olympic level, earning multiple Coach of the Year honours along the way.
Today, Clay and his wife, Maria, own and operate multiple businesses. As an entrepreneur, he applies many of the same principles that shaped his coaching career, helping employees and clients build stronger cultures, take greater ownership, and follow through on ambitious goals.
A practitioner rather than a theorist, Clay shares stories from inside the arena to illuminate a simple but demanding idea: most people have the talent to achieve more, but few practise the disciplined self-honesty required to turn that potential into a life they are proud of. His work challenges leaders and teams to confront the quiet forms of self-deception that hold them back and replace them with clarity, accountability, and consistent action.
Clay holds multiple advanced degrees and brings a rare combination of elite coaching experience, entrepreneurial leadership, and practical insight to every stage.

Signature Keynotes
Quiet Sabotage: The Lies We Tell Ourselves That Hold Us Back
The quiet saboteur in our lives is often self-deception. It appears in the small, repeated lies we tell ourselves about our effort, priorities, abilities, and identity. These lies rarely sound like sabotage. Instead, they disguise themselves as wisdom, caution, practicality, or self-protection.
In this keynote, Clay Worthington explores how these subtle justifications keep individuals and teams from reaching their potential. Drawing on his experience in elite sport, leadership, and entrepreneurship, he shows audiences how to identify the internal compromises that undermine progress and replace them with disciplined self-honesty.
Clay challenges audiences to confront the gap between what they say they want and how they actually behave, while avoiding the trap of turning accountability into self-criticism. The result is a practical framework for dismantling self-deception, taking ownership, and pursuing ambitious goals with greater clarity and follow-through.
